More of the same politics in Washington and the White House

Upon receiving the jobs report, President Obama has begun saying things such as, "These numbers demand action. It is inexcusable and irresponsible for any of us to get bogged down in distraction, delay or politics as usual while millions of Americans are being put out of work. Now is the time for Congress to act."

I am sorry, but that is not change! That is the same usage of fear and force that America grew tired of over the past 8 years. I feel for the 3.8 million American who lost their jobs over the past half year or so, but what about the other 300+ million Americans? Is it too much to ask that we take a few more days, weeks, or even months to ensure we know what is included in the "recovery" package? Hold off on cramming it down our thoughts just a bit. We are talking about nearly $1,000,000,000,000. That is a lot of zeros. Mitt Romney was mocked during the primaries when he proposed a stimulus plan of around a third of what is now being talked about. How about the politicians and White House start working for us again, and doing what we as citizens want. And I do not want nearly $1 trillion forced upon me, my children, and their children. Especially when we look at how well the rest of the bail-out money has helped the economy.

  1. Tell everyone you know, or e-mail, to blast Maine Sens. Snow and Collins for siding with the Dem. Senators against their own! Tell them they are helping to pass what Americans have clearly decided they don't want!Collins@senate.gov and snow@senate.gov

  2. PS. I e-mailed them both that I will no longer vacation in a Republican state whose senators BOTH sold out!

  3. I agree. Now is the time remind ALL ELECTED officials that they work for us. If they chose to act in a way that is contrary to that relationship, they need to know they will suffer consequences in one form or another. If a President, Senator, or House Representative decides that he will force something upon us that we not desire, he must be aware of the repercussions. And you voice, letters, words, emails are the best way to let them know.

This post is not to tell others whether the stimulus package is right of wrong, just to say that if the American public and taxpayers are at odds with it, then it MUST be delayed. And currently, the polls say that a good portion of the American public is having second thoughts about spending so many tax dollars.

Unfortunately thought, it looks like that will not be the case.

  4. Getting in a big hurry to spend money we can't afford to pay back for something that probably isn't what we need anyway...isn't that what got us into this mess?

  5. I'm going to follow your blog because you're saying what I want to say.

I've been emailing 3 - 4 x a week to the reps in DC. I am frustrated, though, because I want to DO something rather than read blogs and think, "yeah, yeah!". Where's OUR "Million People Walk"?

  6. Let me throw that question out to everyone. How can DC be fixed?
